Zilch rules:

  • Players must enter the room before the score keeper starts announcing the score after the second round of play in order to participate in the game.
  • At the beginning of each player’s turn, the host calls the player’s name and rolls the dice. If after 3 seconds the player has not responded, the host will call their name a second time. After 3 more seconds have passed, the current player is considered absent, and the next player’s name is called, and the dice are replayed and gameplay moves on. In an effort to cut down on the amount of interruptions during a game, if a player is skipped, their name will be called once for their next turn. They must key up immediately to let the dice roller know that they are back at their computer. If they do not respond, there will be no second call, and the roll will pass to the next player. Absent players will be skipped in subsequent rounds unless they announce themselves back in play at the end of a round and not interrupt other player’s turns.
  • Forgiveness is given if a player has no point value in the first roll of 6 dice. This is only allowed to each player once in a game.
  • The current player or the score keeper may request that the dice be replayed no more than once following the initial roll.
  • After the second time the dice have been played, the player must either tell the host what they see, or what score they have and weather or not they wish to stay or roll. If after two attempts by the player to tell the host either what they have or what they see are unsuccessful, the player will be awarded the total score of the dice for the current round.
  • If a player does not respond within 2 calls, The roll of the dice goes to the next player.
  • If the player is having computer or iPhone difficulties, they should leave the room immediately to indicate they are having problems either keying up or hearing the dice. The dice roller will then wait for a maximum of 30 seconds for the player to reenter the room at which time, their dice will be replayed. If the player does not reenter the room in a timely manner, the roll will move to the next player.
  • If a player is having difficulty staying in the room and is continually bouncing in and out, when they enter the room for the third time, they will be asked not to return should they leave the room again. Constant bouncing in and out of the room is extremely distracting for a player who is trying to hear their dice roll and for the scorekeeper. If you know that you are having issues staying in the room, you should be mindful of the distraction you are creating, and voluntarily stop attempting to reenter the room after 3 tries.
  • Please note that it is common courtesy to respond to the host as soon as possible when it is your turn. if you are playing, it is rude to multi-task and have the host and other game players wait for you, so Please show respect to our game hosts and pay attention.
  • The host and or score keeper may give a player their options. This can include replaying their dice for them, or clarifying their points for them should the player ask for clarification.
  • If a player indicates that they are keeping the points they have accumulated, that will be taken as a final decision, and the roll will move to the next player. Even if the former player could have rolled 6 dice and continued their turn, if they have stated that they are keeping their points, no other player can talk them into rolling again. Final is final. The player who’s turn it is will make his/her own decisions based on those options. This eliminates the confusion of having several players, with good intent, give suggestions.
  • If a scoring error occurs, any player may voice the correction when they get the key. However, if the correction has been made, release your key. There is no need to have 3 or more people repeat the same correction to the host or score keeper.
  • Please note that we will still be keeping track of the winner from each game to see who will come out on top for the month. These monthly winners will then face off in a tournament style game at the end of September to determine who will win a prize of fifty dollars.
  • In the event of a tie, a play-off game will be held to determine the outright winner.
